Hi folks, Rudolph here – your friendly red-nosed reindeer.
It’s a busy time of the year here in Lapland, But never too busy to write a newsletter at this festive time for Mary & John @ Development Solutions.
As part of our on-going personal development, Santa and I have recently had our Strengthscope feedback and we are happy to share with you our top 3 stand-out strengths. If you don’t know – Strengthscope is a great way to identify workplace strengths. So, what do you think ours are?
Well, before I reveal our strengths, let me tell you that we are each unique – but then you knew that didn’t you. But you are too, the likelihood of having the same 7 top strengths in the same order is 1 in 1.7 billion.
Santa’s top 3 stand-out strengths are:
- compassion: defined as demonstrating a deep and genuine concern for the well-being and welfare of others;
- relationship building: defined as taking steps to build networks of contacts and act as a hub between people you know;
- enthusiasm: defined as demonstrating passion and energy when communicating goals, beliefs, interests and ideas that you feel strongly about.
Asked how he employs these to be successful, his responses included. “Well I really care that children everywhere get a Christmas present.” In terms of relationship building “I take time to get to know all the elves. With our toy suppliers, I need a good working relationship because tastes change so quickly and sometimes new models are needed right at the last minute. With regard to my enthusiasm – well have you ever heard me laugh? That’s me being enthusiastic. Plus I am passionate about what we do and keen to encourage others to create magic moments for children. My question to you are you read this is, what magic can you bring to people around you at this festive time?”
So, on to me. My 3 stand-out strengths are collaboration, compassion and efficiency. These help me to have a highly productive relationship with the whole reindeer team – their motivation and well-being a re vital to us completing our gruelling schedule on the 24th. Santa’s compassion, enthusiasm and (yes) his leadership would have little impact if we didn’t get him to every destination – remembering the time differences as we travel.
Come January it will be hoof-up time. Then we will all get involved in some stretch goals and some work on our team strengths.
Till then, happy festive season. Rudolph.
